What it is

Round LED PCBs for round fixtures

A round (circular) LED PCB mounts LEDs on a disc in a radial pattern — the natural shape for bulbs, downlights, ceiling panels, ring lights and high-bay heads. Most are built as an aluminum or copper-core MCPCB so heat spreads evenly outward to the housing.

The challenges are geometric: radial trace routing, annular rings, fiducials and test points that avoid the LEDs, and efficient panelization. Get these right and a circular board is just as manufacturable as a rectangular one — at the same quality level we hold across our PCB capabilities.

Design tips

Designing a manufacturable round board

Panelize in a rectangle

Array circular boards in a rectangular panel with breakaway tabs or v-scoring so they run on standard SMT lines.

Test points at 120°

Place test points and fiducials at 120° intervals, clear of LEDs and the optical zone, for consistent ICT/AOI access.

Radial symmetry

Lay LEDs and copper pours with rotational symmetry to avoid hotspots and keep light output uniform.

Plan the centre & edges

Define centre/edge mounting holes, a wire or lens hole, and optical keep-outs early.

Spread the heat

Aluminum or copper base plus heavy copper moves heat outward to the housing.

Mind annular rings

Keep annular rings and via placement robust on curved routing for reliable plating.

Why PCBSync

Circular boards at full quality

A round outline should not mean compromise. We hold the same registration, plating and inspection on circular boards as on any other — AOI, electrical test and lab verification through our PCB laboratory — and give DFM feedback on panelization, fiducials and thermal layout before build.

  • Radial DFM — routing, annular rings, panelization checked.
  • Heavy copper — up to 4 oz for spreading.
  • White mask — reflective finish for output.
  • DOB or driver — AC-direct or constant-current.
  • Proto to volume — quick-turn then scale.

Round LED PCB — FAQ

A round (circular) LED PCB is a disc-shaped board that mounts LEDs in a radial layout, used where a fixture is round — bulbs, downlights, ceiling lights, ring lights and high-bay heads. It is usually built as an aluminum or copper MCPCB for heat dissipation.

Circular boards are arrayed inside a rectangular panel with breakaway tabs or v-scoring so they run on standard SMT lines, then separate after assembly. We add fiducials and tooling that avoid the LED zones.

A common practice is to place test points at 120° intervals and keep them clear of LEDs and the optical zone, so in-circuit and AOI access stays consistent around the disc.

From small discs (15–50 mm) to large ceiling/high-bay plates (200 mm+), with centre and edge mounting holes, keep-outs for optics, and a central hole for the driver wire or lens holder.

Yes — DOB designs run the LEDs directly from AC with an on-board linear IC and no external driver. We also build standard constant-current versions. See LED bulb PCB for DOB lamp boards.
