Why rigid-flex

One board that folds into your product

A rigid-flex PCB merges rigid and flexible circuits into a single, connector-free part — saving space and weight, enabling 3D folding into tight enclosures, and improving reliability where shock, vibration and repeated movement would stress a cable or connector.

Rigid-flex PCB capability — FAQ

Rigid-flex boards are built from 2 to 32 layers, combining rigid FR-4 sections with flexible polyimide sections (typically 1 to 12 flex layers), including multilayer and HDI constructions.

A rigid-flex PCB integrates rigid board sections and flexible circuit sections into a single part. It removes connectors and cables between boards, saves space and weight, lets the assembly fold into 3D enclosures, and improves reliability in environments with shock and vibration.

Rigid sections use FR-4 (high-Tg available); flexible sections use polyimide (PI / Kapton), PET or PEN with polyimide coverlay. Stiffeners are available in FR4, aluminum, polyimide and stainless steel, and EMI shielding film can be added.

Built and inspected to IPC-6013 and IPC-2223 for the flex / rigid-flex construction, and IPC-6012 for the rigid sections, with IPC-A-600 and IPC-A-610, under an ISO 9001 system. They can be produced UL, RoHS and REACH compliant, with ISO 13485, IATF 16949 and AS9100 support.

Use the inquiry form above or upload your Gerbers and layer drawing on our contact page. We reply with a quote — usually within 24 hours — plus a free DFM review.
