Why metal core

A built-in heat sink under your circuit

A metal-core PCB bonds the copper circuit to a metal base — usually aluminum — through a thin, thermally conductive dielectric. Heat from LEDs and power components flows straight down into the metal instead of building up, so parts run cooler, last longer and can be driven harder. It is the standard choice for LED lighting, power conversion and automotive electronics.

Beyond the basics

Advanced & high-end metal-core processes

When standard aluminum MCPCB isn't enough heat path, these constructions push thermal performance further.

Copper-base MCPCB

A solid copper base for the highest heat dissipation in high-power LED and power-electronics designs.

Max thermal

Thermoelectric separation

A copper sinkpad directly under the LED die gives a near-zero-resistance heat path while keeping circuit isolation.

Sinkpad / COB

Multilayer metal-core

Double-sided and multilayer constructions with thermal vias for boards that need both routing and heat removal.

2L+

High-thermal dielectric

Ceramic-filled dielectrics up to ~7 W/m·K for power densities standard 1–2 W/m·K materials can't handle.

Up to ~7 W/m·K

Heavy copper on metal

Thick copper on a metal base for high-current power and motor-drive boards that also need to shed heat.

Up to 10 oz

Hybrid (metal + FR4)

Mixed constructions that bond an FR4 sub-stack to a metal base, combining signal routing with thermal management.

Metal core PCB capability — FAQ

Aluminum (1060, 5052, 6061), copper, and iron / stainless-steel bases. Aluminum is most common for LED and general thermal management; copper is used where the highest heat dissipation is required.

The thermally conductive dielectric is available at 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 W/m·K as standard, with high-performance options up to about 7 W/m·K. The right value depends on power density and operating temperature.

Yes — beyond single-layer MCPCB we build double-sided and multilayer metal-core constructions, COB boards, and copper-base sinkpad / thermoelectric-separation designs for direct heat paths under high-power components.

Built and inspected to IPC-A-600 and IPC-6012 under an ISO 9001 system, and produced UL listed, 94V-0, RoHS and REACH compliant, with IATF 16949 support for automotive lighting and power.

Use the inquiry form above or upload your Gerbers on our contact page, telling us the base material, dielectric W/m·K and copper weight. We reply with a quote — usually within 24 hours — plus a free DFM review.
