What a turnkey cost actually covers

Turnkey means single-source accountability: you provide the design, we handle everything to finished boards. Here's every element folded into the one price.

often largest

Components

Every part on your BOM — ICs, connectors, passives and modules — bought at our volume pricing across vetted distributors.

Sourcing & kitting

Procurement, financing the parts buy, handling MOQ overage, incoming inspection and kitting — the work of getting every part to the line.

Bare PCB

Fabrication of the board itself to your stackup and finish — made in-house, so the board and build move together without hand-offs.

Assembly labor

SMT, through-hole and BGA placement on one or both sides, with the engineering setup, stencil and programming behind it.

Test & inspection

AOI, optional X-ray for BGAs, functional test, conformal coating and IC programming — whatever your board needs to ship working.

Project management

One point of contact, one quote, one schedule and one party accountable for quality — no finger-pointing between board and assembly vendors.

Turnkey vs consigned vs partial

The biggest cost decision in PCB assembly is who supplies the parts. Here's how the three models compare on cost, effort and risk.

Turnkey PCB assembly cost — FAQ

A turnkey price is all-inclusive: bare PCB fabrication, all components sourced for you, procurement and handling, assembly labor for SMT, through-hole and BGA, plus test and finishing options and a one-time setup. You hand over the design and receive finished, tested boards — with components typically the largest single line.

It depends. Turnkey adds a sourcing margin but saves your procurement time, shipping, MOQ overage and kitting, and removes shortage risk. Consigned can be cheaper on paper if you already hold stock or get better part pricing, but you carry the sourcing risk and labor. For most prototypes and mid-volume runs, full turnkey is the lower total cost once your own time and risk are counted.

On a populated board, the parts — ICs, connectors, passives and any expensive controllers or modules — often add up to more than the bare board and assembly combined. That's why turnkey pricing is dominated by your BOM, and why the exact figure is confirmed from it rather than a slider.

Order larger batches to spread setup and unlock component price breaks, choose widely-available parts over single-source ones, reduce unique BOM lines, avoid unnecessary fine-pitch or BGA where simpler packages work, and allow standard lead times. Our free DFA and BOM review flags the costliest parts and suggests alternates.

We handle full turnkey from a few prototype boards up to volume production of tens of thousands. Low quantities cost more per board because setup and minimum component buys spread over fewer units — the estimator above shows how this changes with quantity.

One quote. Finished boards.

Send your BOM and Gerbers for a firm turnkey price and a free design-for-assembly and BOM review. Prototype or production, we source, build and test it all.
